Yadavindra Singh, the Maharaja of Patiala, a distinguished client of the house in the 1930s and renowned for his exuberant style, was a key source of inspiration for this haute création collection. It was the Maharaja'-s special request to change the history of St. Dupont and introduce it to the world of fire and lighters. Indeed, in 1941, &quot-the Magnificent,&quot- as he was nicknamed, wanted to equip his minaudières with pocket lighters. The fact that this had never been done before prompted Lucien and André Tissot Dupont to create the first gasoline lighter, thus bringing the house of St. Dupont into a new world of excellence. This historic collaboration opened new creative avenues for the manufacture and consolidated its association with luxury and timeless elegance. The Maharaja &amp- Maharani haute-création collection is inspired by these legendary minaudières and the sovereign'-s exquisite jewels.
